What’s happening?
The Emission Dashboard in Microsoft Sustainability Manager is displaying incorrect values, specifically showing a summation of Location-Based and Market-Based values instead of individual values for each accounting method. Additionally, emissions for scope 3.9 are being incorrectly rolled into scope 3.4, leading to data discrepancies in the Analytics dashboard and Emissions table.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this is related to the configuration of the dashboard settings. The "Custom dashboard (preview)" feature is enabled by default, which prevents the dashboard from displaying the correct values for different accounting methods. Furthermore, there is a known bug where emissions data for scope 3.9 is being incorrectly categorized under scope 3.4.
Resolution:
- To resolve the dashboard display issue, customers need to switch to the default dashboard by disabling the "Custom dashboard" toggle on the reports page.
- If custom dashboards are required, customers should:
- Make a note of all customizations made in their custom report.
- Delete the existing custom report.
- Recreate a new report with the necessary customizations.
- For the scope 3 emissions issue, it is recommended to create a new calculation model from scratch, ensuring that it does not copy any existing models to avoid bugs. The new model should specify Scope 3 Category 9 as the 'Activity data' source and set up the model's nodes to match the existing misbehaving calculation model. After saving the new model, update the existing calculation profile to use the new model and run the calculation profile to verify that the emissions are categorized correctly.
