What’s happening?
Customers are experiencing difficulties with setting up Active Directory (AD) users and ensuring they are assigned to the appropriate business units and teams within Dataverse. This results in users being able to access sites without proper permissions, even if they are not listed as users in the business unit.


Reason:
The underlying cause of this is related to the configuration of user permissions and the assignment of users to business units and teams in Dataverse. Users may not be pulling in correctly from Entra, leading to incorrect assignments and access control issues.


Resolution:

  • Ensure that users are correctly assigned to the appropriate business unit and team in Dataverse to set the table permissions correctly.
  • Review the authentication process in Power Pages and how it associates authenticated site users with Microsoft Dataverse contact records.
  • Configure page permissions to limit access to specific pages for users based on their business unit and team assignments.
  • If issues persist, consider resetting the necessary permissions and retrying the provisioning process with the required privileges.
