What’s happening?
Customers are inquiring whether the "Dynamics 365 Field Service Attach to Qualifying Dynamics 365 Offer" license includes Microsoft Teams services and if an additional Teams license is required.

Reason:
The confusion arises from previous confirmations regarding the licensing, specifically whether the Teams integration is necessary for using Teams features within Dynamics 365 applications. There is also a misunderstanding about the ability to use the Teams standalone client without the Dynamics integration.

Resolution:

  • The Dynamics 365 Field Service license—whether base or attach—includes integration capabilities with Microsoft Teams. This allows users to collaborate on work orders directly within Teams, and sync bookings with Teams calendars .However, this integration does not equate to a standalone Microsoft Teams license.
  • Attach licenses are designed for users who already have a qualifying base license (e.g., Sales, Customer Service, etc.) and want to add additional Dynamics 365 apps at a reduced cost. These attach licenses inherit the capabilities of the base license but do not include additional entitlements like standalone Microsoft 365 services
  • Enable the Teams service plan via the admin portal if the feature is needed, although the customer may choose not to proceed with this feature.
  • If the goal is to enable collaboration within Dynamics 365 Field Service using Teams, the license supports that. But it does not include standalone Microsoft Teams license
