What’s happening?
A support user account named 'Support User' has appeared in all environments with a username that cannot be removed. The account appears to have the 'Support User' role, which raises questions about its purpose and whether it can be deleted.
Reason:
Technical guidance.
Resolution:
- The 'Support User' account is a standard support user account granted a hidden role called 'Support User.'
- This role has a very restricted set of privileges and allows Microsoft Support engineers to access the environment when a support ticket is created by the customer and consent is shared for diagnostics.
- The account does not have the privilege to access customer data, and the security roles assigned to these system users are managed by the system, making them non-modifiable.
- It is not recommended to delete or modify the 'Support User' account, including changing or reassigning its security role.
