Applies to Product - Microsoft Copilot Studio
What’s happening?
The customer is experiencing issues with their agent created in Copilot Studio, specifically that the agent does not greet the user upon closing and opening the Microsoft Teams, or after a period of inactivity. The system topic "Start Conversation" is not functioning as expected after publishing the agent to the Teams channel.
Reason:
The default behavior of the "Start Conversation" topic is to trigger only during the first interaction when the copilot is installed in Teams. If the chatbot is deleted and reinstalled, the "Start Conversation" topic does not trigger again, resulting in no automatic greeting being sent to the user.
Resolution:
- To enable the agent to greet users multiple times, the customer needs to add a topic redirect under the "Clear variable value" action and set it to the "Start Conversation" topic.
- If the customer wants the chatbot to send a greeting after a certain period of inactivity, they must use the "Reset Conversation" topic in conjunction with the "Start Conversation" topic. This requires the user to manually trigger the "Reset Conversation" topic by entering a specific keyword.
- Ensure that the Power Platform environment is configured to allow publishing of copilots with AI features. This setting can be checked and enabled in the Power Platform admin center.
- If the publish button is disabled in Copilot Studio, the customer should verify with their admin team regarding any restrictions on publishing copilots with generative answers and actions.
