Applies to Product - Microsoft Copilot Studio

What’s happening?
Customers are unable to add co-editors to a created Copilot in Microsoft Teams, despite having the necessary permissions.

Reason:
Follow public documentation: Control how agents are shared - Microsoft Copilot Studio | Microsoft Learn. The issue arises when users who are members of a Team Group attempt to share a Copilot. If the user is a member, they may not have the required permissions to edit or share the Copilot unless they are designated as an owner.

Resolution:

  1. Follow public documentation: Control how agents are shared - Microsoft Copilot Studio | Microsoft Learn.
  2. Verify the role of the user in the Team Group: Ensure that the user is assigned the Owner role, as only Owners have full control over all agents in the Team Group.
  3. If the user is currently a Member, consider changing their role to Owner to enable editing capabilities.
  4. If the user is unable to see the Copilot in the "Customize the System" section:
  5. Check if the user has the necessary permissions to view Chatbots or Copilots.
  6. Confirm that the user has the appropriate license for Copilot Studio.
  7. For exporting and importing Copilot data: Use the solution feature to export and import the Copilot. Ensure that the Copilot is added to a solution before performing the export or import.
  8. Note that System Customizer permissions are required, and the solution should be exported as unmanaged.
  9. If issues persist, consider creating a new Team Group for collaborative editing, where only the desired users are added as members.
