What’s happening?
Customers encounter errors when attempting to add a custom domain to their Power Pages site, specifically related to the requirement for TXT records associated with CDN-enabled sites.
Reason:
The underlying cause of this is often related to the absence of the required TXT records for domain verification, which is necessary for enabling the Content Delivery Network (CDN) for the site. Additionally, if the custom domain is associated with any other existing portal in the tenant, or if there are conflicting TXT records, the addition of the custom domain may fail.
Resolution:
- Verify that the custom domain is not associated with any other existing portal in the tenant. If it has not been deleted from any existing portals, the addition will fail.
- Ensure that the CNAME mapping is correctly created from the custom domain URL to the Power Apps portals URL.
- Check if the hostname of the SSL certificate matches the custom domain being added.
- Confirm that there are no additional TXT records associated with the custom domain other than the one provided by Microsoft. If there are, remove the conflicting TXT records and attempt to add the custom domain again.
- Copy the Record type, Record name, and Record value from the domain validation section.
- Create a TXT record with your domain provider using the copied information.
- After adding the TXT entry, it may take some time to propagate to all DNS servers.
- Select Refresh to validate the custom domain.
- Once validated, proceed with the next steps to configure the SSL binding and complete the custom domain setup.
- If this persists, consider reaching out to the domain provider for further assistance or to confirm the correct TXT record values needed for the setup.
