What’s happening?
Newly created custom Dataverse tables are not accessible by a copied system customizer role, while the original system customizer role has full access to these tables.
Reason:
When a role is copied in Dynamics 365, it functions similarly to the 'Save As' function in a word processor. This means that the new tables created after the role was copied are not automatically included in the copied role's permissions. The copied role retains permissions only for the tables that existed at the time of copying.
Resolution:
- To ensure that the copied role has access to newly created tables, the permissions for these tables must be added manually to the copied role.
- It is recommended to use the original system customizer role for users who need ongoing access to new tables, rather than relying on a copied role, as the copied role will not automatically update with new permissions.
