What’s happening?
Customers may experience a Token Validation Error when attempting to pair their hardware workstation on test lab equipment.
Reason:
This may occur if the Store Commerce cache file is affected by the customer's virus protection tool. Additionally, the configuration settings in the web.config file may not match the Retail Server URL in the POS Settings page.
Resolution:
To resolve the Token Validation Error, follow these steps:
- Check to ensure that the file C:\Users\RetailHardwareStationAppPool\AppData\Local\Microsoft Dynamics AX\Retail Hardware Station\SecureStorage.xml exists.
- If the file does not exist, it was likely deleted by a component on the hardware station device, such as anti-virus software. Exclude that folder from anti-virus checking. Repairing the Hardware Workstation (HWS) should then resolve the issue.
- If the file does exist, confirm that Shared HWS is pointing to the same CSU and POS.
- Open the HWS web.config file and look for the key "retailServer". The value listed there should match the Retail Server URL in the POS Settings page.
- If the value does not match, modify the web.config file to specify the same Retail Server URL as defined in POS.
