What’s happening?
When using Microsoft Electronic Reporting (ER) with Excel templates, images inserted into the footer become pixelated and lose quality when scaled down, despite having high initial resolution. The issue occurs specifically when images are resized using ER settings such as "Absolute" or "Relative". When the "Original" setting is used, the image quality remains high, but the image size becomes excessively large, covering a significant portion of the report.

Reason:
The image quality degradation occurs due to automated scaling performed by Electronic Reporting (ER) when images are resized using ER settings like "Absolute" or "Relative". ER scaling reduces the resolution and quality of the original high-resolution images, resulting in pixelation.

Resolution:
To maintain high image quality in ER reports while fitting images into the footer without pixelation, follow these steps:

  1. Calculate the exact dimensions required for the final document footer.
  2. Save the image in Dynamics with these exact dimensions to avoid automated scaling by ER.
  3. Use the original size of the image in ER without applying any scaling settings. This allows Dynamics to resize the image automatically while preserving the quality.

By following these steps, the image quality in ER reports will remain consistent and clear, even when images are resized to fit into the footer.
