What’s happening?
The customer is requesting access to the Production database of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (F&O) to facilitate data queries and understand the data structure and relationships, particularly in relation to data integration with Power BI.
Reason:
Direct access to the Production database is restricted due to Microsoft's security protocols, which prioritize data confidentiality and integrity. The customer has successfully accessed the UAT database but seeks a similar connection to the Production environment.
Resolution:
- It is recommended to utilize Just-In-Time (JIT) access to the UAT database, which mirrors the Production environment. This allows for necessary queries and understanding of the data structure without direct access to the Production database.
- The customer can perform a database refresh from the Production environment to the UAT environment to ensure the UAT database reflects the latest data from Production.
