What’s happening?
Customers are seeking assistance with using the standard import functionality to upload data from Excel on a custom page within Dynamics/Power Apps.

Reason:
This arises when customers attempt to implement the standard import feature in a custom application, which may be outside the scope of the break-fix support team.

Resolution:
To use the standard import Excel feature in a custom page in Power Apps, follow these steps:

  1. Download an Excel Template:
  2. Open your app and from the left navigation, select a table.
  3. On the command bar, select Excel Templates > Download Template.
  4. Select the table type and view to download or select Edit Columns and choose the rows to include in the template.
  5. Prepare Your Data:
  6. Add your data to the downloaded Excel template. Ensure that you do not add or modify columns in the template to avoid issues during the import.
  7. Import the Data:
  8. Open your app and from the left navigation, select a table.
  9. On the command bar, select the file type to import from: Import from Excel, Import from CSV, or Import from XML.
  10. Select Choose File and browse to the folder where the file is saved. Select the file, select Open, and then select Next.
  11. Select whether to Allow Duplicates or not.
  12. For CSV and XML files, select the data delimiter and field delimiter if applicable, and choose an alternate key if defined.
  13. Select Review Mapping to verify the columns are mapped correctly. If everything looks good, select Finish Import.
  14. Select Track Progress to see the progress of the import.
