Transfer Order from Sales order Line in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management

Hello DAX champions, welcome to my next blog. This blog is sort but can be a important one for any customers.

In this blog I will write about how you can create the Transfer order from sales order line. Now let’s see one scenario where it can be used:

Scenario: Let’s say we got one item requirement from customer in form of sales order and now we need to full fill this requirement, this can be fulfilled in two ways:

1. Using own inventory
2. From 3^rd party supplier using Direct delivery option

Now, 2^nd option has been available for a long time but when we wanted to full fill this requirement from our own inventory there was a no option to create the Transfer order from the location which has the inventory to location from where we need to full fill customer requirement.

Now, this is possible from the new feature of Dynamics 365. So, lets see how you can use this.

Step-1: Enable the feature from feature management

Step-2: Create Salles order and add line item

Sales and Marketing > Orders > Sales order > New > Add all the information > Confirm

Step-3: Select line and click on Product and supply button > Click on Transfer order

Step-4: Now new form will open with pre filled values based on selected line, now we can select the warehouse from where we want to transfer inventory > Click OK

Step-5: View created Transfer order

Inventory Management > Outbound > Transfer order

Now, you can process this transfer order in usual way and deliver it to the customer. Hope this will help you in solving few scenarios.

There are few enhancements possible in this which I hope Microsoft will do in future.

1. Creating automatically
2. Limited the transfer order creation for a line with quantity validation
3. Giving created Transfer orders in related information and many more
