Dynamics CRM 2013 SP1 and 2015 Rollups in April 2015

Microsoft support blog has posted some information on upcoming patches to address the showModalDialog issues in Chrome, and have in the same post pretty much confirmed Dynamics CRM 2013 SP1 UR3 and Dynamics CRM 2015 UR1 will arrive in April 2015. The date/period is no suprise and has been known, but it is nice to finally see it posted and confirmed.

The removal of showModalDialog in Chrome followed a period of deprecated support and reports of low usage. Google allowed enterprises to use policies to reenable the feature, but this was a time limited workaround that would no longer work after the Chrome release scheduled for May 2015. At the time of writing Chrome is at version 41 and we are rapidly approaching the May 2015 full stop deadline. Customers and users have been questioning the schedule and alternative workarounds, and the blog post gives us some peace of mind:

• Dynamics CRM 2011 UR18: A critical on-demand hotfix is available on request from support
• Dynamics CRM 2013 UR3: A critical on-demand hotfix is available on request from support
• Dynamics CRM 2013 SP1: Will be included in SP1UR3 in April 2015
• Dynamics CRM 2015: Will be included in UR1 in April 2015
