Data sharing on Legal entities within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations

Hello D.M.-azing D365 Community!

In this article, we will be unboxing a feature in Dynamic 365 for Finance and Operations called Cross-company data sharing which allows us to replicate or share reference and group data across companies maintained in a D365 F&O environment.

Cross-company data sharing promotes real time sharing of simple reference and group data in a single deployment as well as sharing of parameters and setup among companies that have very similar configurations.

Now, let me impart to you what I have learned about this feature and let’s together find out on how we can utilize Cross-company data sharing in implementing D365 F&O.

a. Go to System administration > Setup > Configure cross-company data sharing

b. Click New then type a value in the Name field and click Save.

c. Click Add to open the drop dialog then in the Table name field, enter or select a value and click Add table.

d. In Companies which share the records in these tables section, click Add then in the Company field, enter or select a value and select the companies in the list where data sharing will take place. Click Save.

e. Click Enable button and let the system do the replication of data on the table/s selected across companies.

Once sharing of data took place and the system found a sharing issues, you can view the list and do a resolution on it by clicking Find sharing issues button.

When using Cross-company data sharing remember that sharing of data is real time and continuous that means as long as a specific policy is enabled and there are updates or changes happening on companies involved in a specific Cross-company data sharing policy those updates will also occur on other companies. In case a circumstance does not make it fit to constantly share data across companies then click Disable button to halt the sharing.
