Modules In Dynamic 365 VS AX 2012 and Deployment Options in Dynamic 365

In this blog, we will discuss changes in modules names between Dynamic 365 and AX 2012 R3

as shown below,

just you open dynamics 365 ( the home page /the web page)


while AX 2012, as a desktop application


some modules grouped from other modules in AX 2012 like (Tax module - cost management)



- no modules changed totally.
- functions in dynamics 365 as the same in AX 2012.


Deployment Options in Dynamic 365

A-Cloud
  1. Microsoft manages all Production data via cloud
  2. Microsoft manages Production applications and code promotions
  3. Cloud-enabled intelligence and other services
  4. Subscription Licensing
B-Cloud & Edge (Hybrid)
  1. “Transact locally, analyze in the cloud”
  2. Cloud-enabled intelligence and other services
  3. Subscription Licensing

C-Local Business Data (On Premise)
  1. Code implementation handled by Customer, with automatic validation via LCS
  2. Customer/Partner manages own data infrastructure and application servers
  3. Optional cloud-enabled services for a la carte purchase
  4. SA/BREP or Subscription Pricing (perpetual licenses similar to prior versions of Dynamics AX with full upgrade capabilities)
