From Import to Acquisition process featuring Migrated asset field on Fixed asset book
Hello there D.M.-azing D365 Community!
As new feature coming into the picture, having a better understanding of it will be great especially if it will help tremendously on our work and implementation.
This is a continuation of the recent article we have for migrated fixed asset button on Fixed asset books. And pardon me if I was not able to reply on comments immediately.
You are all amazing!
For the previous article related to this, please check this link: Great to know: Migrated fixed asset button.
Scenario: With actual import using Data Management – Import function.
What we will need before we can proceed?
Data entity:
- Fixed assets V2 entity
- Fixed asset book V2
Also, please be sure that you have checked the mapping for Fixed asset book V2 and that IsMigratedAsset field is available.

Once done, we can now proceed with our import process plus the acquisition of the Fixed assets.
a. First is the data import: Workspaces > Data Management > Import > Enter necessary details.
b. Under selected entities click Add file then select Fixed assets V2 entity and Fixed asset book V2, both uploading the corresponding files to import.
Be sure that Placed in service date is correctly entered and IsMigratedAsset field is set to Yes for all Fixed assets on Fixed asset book V2.

c. Once successfully imported, go on the Fixed asset and see that Migrated asset button is enabled and Placed in service date is 6/1/2022.

d. Next is to acquire the Fixed asset by posting a journal. The journal date entered is 6/10/2022 for us to appreciate more the Migrated asset button/field.

e. After posting the acquisition journal, here is the result that we are going to have – the Placed in service date is still 6/1/2022 even after acquiring the Fixed asset since Migrated asset field is set to Yes during import process.

That’s it for now. I hope that you find this article as a helpful tool for you to better appreciate and understand, everything and anything, about Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
It will truly be a privilege if you will allow me to know your thoughts and suggestions for me to further improve the coming featured articles on our blog. ‘Til next time!
