“You do not have authorization to post bank transactions” Error in Microsoft Dynamics GP

A client reported an issue recently whereby they could not post bank trasactions. This had previously been working, but had recently become a probkem. When trying to post, they received this error message:

I did some checking around and found that the Allow Transaction Posting checkbox for bank transactions in Posting Setup had been unmarked:

I had discussed with the client switching off transaction level posting for those parts of Dynamics GP where they would be using workflow (GL, RM and PM batches), but it looks like someone got a bit enthusiastic when it came to changing settings. Bank transactions require transaction level posting to be enabled as they can only be posted at the transaction level.
