Dynamics 365 UCI App Icons - Blueprint

Trial & Errors: I did a lot of research on this, playaround a bit, upload & test in multiple clients, wasted a lot of time - so thought of documenting this to save other community members valuable time.

We all know that SVG - Scalable Vector Graphic icons are used in Dynamics for rendering images, we have to upload svg icons as web resource & configure to use in multiple places like sitemap, navigation, entity forms, grid views, lookup, etc. Advantage of svg is single icon will scale for any size without quality degrade, and this is stored as xml compared to other formats like jpg, png.

This guide will help me to remember (all of you as well) for any future tasks.

First things first.

1. We need 2 svg icons & 1 png (16x16) icon for this setup. Create webresources & upload the icons


2. Open the settings - customizations, choose entity - and click on update icons. Set it up like explained below:


IMG.1 is 16x16 png icon used in solution Entity list, regarding lookup and grid view



IMG.2 is white foreground svg icon used in Sitemap. Don't use this same icon in next UCI setting.



3. Set the Unified Interface Icon like below:


IMG.3 is very special svg, as this black foreground icon will be used as is in UCI app. Also for navigation the same icon will be converted into white foreground by product itself
