Is Cloud Computing For You?

Cloud computing may or may not meet your requirements. And there are various ways to deploy your IT systems in the cloud.

Sylvain Boyer covers some of these options in his article, “To the Cloud – or Not.”

Mr. Boyer makes a few points that are worth noting:

In regards to maintaining an online accounting system in the cloud, the preference would be for a private cloud versus a public cloud. This certainly makes sense when considering the importance of these systems to a business, the security concerns, and the need for maximum up-time and availability.

If you have a high volume system that requires rapid access to data, a non-virtualized environment is the way to go. A good example of this would be a business to consumer (B2C) website.
