5 Traits of a Successful Dynamics GP Consultant
Are you a Dynamics GP power user considering a career as a software consultant? The Dynamics GP consultant role is a challenging, yet rewarding one for the right person. In it, you will help people use the power and flexibility of technology to help them run their business in the most efficient way possible. There are certain key traits that factor into whether a person is well-suited to this type of role.
To decide whether you would be a good match for a career as a Dynamics GP consultant, ask yourself these questions:
- Am I a problem solver? – At its most basic level, solving problems for their clients is what a Dynamics GP consultant does day in and day out. They must be creative thinkers who enjoy teaching and helping others. They do not throw up their hands and say it can’t be done. But, rather they find a way to make it work.
- Do I have a wide variety of technical skills? – Generally, a Dynamics GP consultant must have proven experience deploying Microsoft Dynamics GP, as well as an understanding of SSRS reporting and SQL Server querying.
- Am I a good listener? – Working as a Dynamics GP consultant requires that you work one-on-one with a wide variety of people. You must be able develop a rapport, gain their trust and listen carefully to their needs. When answering questions, you must be able to explain technical concepts in easy to follow terms.
- Do you enjoy learning new things? – Technology is constantly evolving, and to keep up Dynamics GP consultants must stay up to date on the latest industry and technology trends. And, be willing to learn from their own mistakes.
- Are you driven to succeed? – When you set your mind to a goal, do you always achieve it, no matter what roadblocks may come up along the way? Perseverance mixed with great attention to detail are two more traits that make for a successful Dynamics GP consultant. In this role, it is important that you are willing to ask the unspoken question. You must always be on the lookout for things that other people may have missed. After all, the sooner you uncover potential issues, the sooner they get fixed and the smaller the chance they will affect the overall success of a project.
