Workflow Enhancements for Dynamics GP Fall 2019

Microsoft Dynamics GP has been updated to include several new features. The latest update was released in early October 2019 and I am VERY excited to say that the new features do NOT disappoint!

Included with this roll out, were several awesome and important workflow enhancements.

Below is an updated chart of workflow functionality by version/release as well as a quick peak at the latest and greatest changes for workflow!

User Workflow Approval

Adding or editing a user setup will now trigger a workflow event if this workflow type is activated.

User Security Workflow Approval

Adding or changing a users security will now trigger a workflow event if this workflow type is activated.

Security Roles Workflow Approval

Adding or editing a security role will now trigger a workflow event if this workflow type is activated.

Security Tasks Workflow Approval

Adding or editing a security task will now trigger a workflow event if this workflow type is activated.

Other Workflow Changes

In addition to these new workflow types, a few workflow functionality changes were made.

  • Workflow can be imported/exported using a .json file
  • Vendor Status (hold) can now be used to trigger a workflow
  • Vendor Document Attachment can now be used to trigger a workflow
  • Active Workflow tasks can be modified to change approvers

What about other functionality?

The workflow features in Dynamics GP started several years ago. The product teams has consistently added more and more with each version.
