This is my favorite report among Inventory reports.
Why I like is that it is very useful for cost management and also very user friendly while you can create your own report. You decide which columns and detailed data to use.
Lets start with its parameter setup.
On the report criteria, you can select date interval or preset date interval code.
But in this report , what important is the report code id.
On the main table of the report code id, you select what you want to have. You may define more than one report format for different purposes like on one you may have details and the other you may need just a summary.
First you define the report id and detailed name to understand.
You may set date interval as default so you do not have to select each time on the report when you run.
You can select the range of the day as posting date or transaction time.
You can even define the dimension set to report.
You select what you want to see on rows. You may see material, labor, indirect cost or direct outsourcing.
If you select level as Total, transactional data will not be able to see but just totals. If select transactions, then also the transaction will be able to see.
If include beginning balance is set to No, then details will not include the transactions of the beginning balance. If set to yes, then you will see all the transactions that creates the balance.
For Columns there are various selections.
Financial position part is the part you want to select which you select what mount and qty to see on the report. If you are interested in to see only the inventory value, then just select inventory. This report is also very valuable when you want to control the trial balance.
Inventory dimensions is the part on which you want to report. You may just select site to report and/or to have totals under the values.
On the report if you want to see the item id (resource id), item group (resource group) and if to have the totals per those, you may set yes the values of the parameters.
If you want to print the cumulative accounting values and select the accounts, you need to set this parameter to Yes.
Summarize physical and financial values: Summarize the report values to show.
Include not posted to ledger: Will include the transactions that are physical but not posted to ledger.
Calculate average unit cost: A column is added to show the average unit cost of the item.
Total quantity and value: Have a sub total in the end of the report a line.
Hint: Be careful what you select on the report definition while according to your transaction qty, this report may take too much time. So maybe instead inventory visibility can be used for this purpose. Inventory visibility will have its own blog in the near future
Hint: On records to include, you will not see the item id or item group selection. These are named as resource and resource group
