CRM has moved on………………..So have I
Yeah I know it’s been like a year since my last blog but I told you they wouldn’t follow any sort of schedule, But just humor me for a bit.
So it is a really exciting time to be in the CRM marketplace – in fact not just the CRM marketplace the whole Dynamics Stack is on fire at the moment…….. I am going to tell you more about my thoughts on it all but let me tell you how I got a little more exposure!!
Back around the time of my last post March 2015 I was offered and had accepted a Senior CRM Consultancy role with an Edinburgh based development house which on the face of it was a very good move but there was just something in the back of my mind that I didn’t think at the time this was the right move for me so I took the decision to rescind my acceptance and stay with the company I was with. Fast Forward to August and I had a call from Nigel Frank about a position that sounded very appealing – The chance to work with a company who are in the Microsoft Presidents Club, Helping MS build and integrate solutions as well as being at the forefront of the industry.
These factors made the move a good proposition if I was to move myself forward in the CRM circles needed to the plunge and decided to make the move. The company I was with at the time I have to say the helped shape me into the type of consultant that I am now and give me a good support network that I am grateful for.
Within just a few months of the new job it has seen me sit in with Microsoft on some FieldOne sessions and visit a customer in Atlanta for a project kick off, As well as dealing with international deployments in Poland, France, Latin America, EMEA & Dundee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly Dundee – I have never worked anywhere near my house in the last 10 years and within the first week of the job I was at a customer who I could drive to within 20 minutes
With working for a more prominent company comes rapid exposure to the whole Microsoft world and anyone who knows will think I am delirious but……… NAV isn’t actually all that bad. With CRM 2016 there was not much functional change from 2016 (I do love the else statements in the business rules) but the integration with their new IP – FieldOne, ADX Studio, Mojo Surveys (which I had worked previously with their MD on a project) and Projects – I’m not sure if the NDA has run out on the Projects area yet but lets be honest nobody is really reading.
But my 2 new loves that I have are not Dynamics CRM specific but enablers – Power Bi & PowerApps, These 2 bad boys make things fun. So what I have decided for the next couple of weeks I will dive deeper into the following topics
- Field Service & Projects – Construction and Facilities Management
- ADX Studio – Portals for everything and anything
- Power BI – Those little swimming people
I might do one on PowerApps if I can get the app I am working on going.
Anyway that’s an update and confirmation that I am still alive and here is my home office all set up

Generally agree with your thoughts and I am also working on the same space. But I am into Field Service not FieldOne although many people would say its the same but a lot has change for the good. I share your enthusiasm and looking forward for your blogs.
