Olister Rumao Profile Picture Olister Rumao 3,967

Introduction:

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations is a Business Application used to manage Projects, Resoure Allocation, Billing and Resource Utilization. Earlier, it was know as Professional Services Automation(PSA). With the release of Project Operations, signing up used to be a tedious process and time-consuming process.
In this blog, I will share the exact steps to spin up a trial easily.

Pre-requisites:

  • Microsoft 365 Subscription
  • Project Operations License

Books & References:

Demonstration:

1. Sign-up from Dynamics.com and get a License:
Visit https://dynamics.microsoft.com/en-gb/project-operations/overview/ and sign in with your Office 365 account. Later click on Get Started as highlighted in screenshot below.

You should be getting a wizard to provide your details. Since I have already signed up, I do not see the signup form. Go ahead and fill in your details.

Once, the sign-up process is complete, you will get a Trial License in your bucket in Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

2. Setup Dynamics 365 Environment:

Go to admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com and sign in with your Microsoft 365 Account.
Here, you will need to create a new Environment for your Project Operations implementation.
If you already have an environment for Dynamics 365 Apps, you can simply install the Project Operations App for Dynamics 365.

Once, you click on New, you will need to provide the details to signup for the new environment.

Click Next and provide more details and provide apps to be installed. In this case, you will need to select Project Operations App.

Once the sign-up of the new Environment is completed, you will see it below.

Also, when you get into environment details, you should see that Project Operations is installed. Click on Dynamics 365 Apps

Once you have completed the setup, you will have to navigate the URL provided for the environment.

Select the Environment to Project Operations and you will see the Dashboard

Conclusion:

Overall the signup process is pretty easy once you know it.

I hope this helps.
Have a great day ahead.
