Top New Features in Unified Client Interface in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement

Joseph Macwan Profile Picture Joseph Macwan 65

Unified Client Interface is where Microsoft is now putting all its focus in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, that is why we see some new intuitive features being added to them, instead of the existing Web Client interface, which anyways Microsoft has a plan to replace in near future. The topmost feature being the new Responsive User Interface of Unified Client which autofit based on the screen size.

Below are some of the top features

Inline Lookup

The Inline Lookup has become more user-friendly and feature-rich in Unified Client compared to the Web Client. Apart from showing the most recent records, users now have the option to filter based on Entity. For multi-entity lookup like Customer, now user had the option to select either Accounts or Contacts without any need of opening the lookup dialog box.

Users now can select a View inside the inline lookup to further filter the records by clicking on Change View button.

On selecting ‘My Active Accounts’ view,

the inline lookup shows only the matching ‘My Active Accounts’ records

Also, the records inside the inline lookup can be expanded to see more information.

Related tab

Related tab on the form allows the user to select the Related Entity.

The selected entity tab is added to the form itself.

For e.g. on selecting Product, the Product tab is added to the form.

Similarly, on selecting Connections, will replace the Products tab with the Connections tab on the form.

The benefit here is that the user can still click on Summary or other tabs to get the detail of the main record along with the related entity at the same place unlike Web form wherein user needs to toggle between the different screen and load them to see the corresponding detail.

Tabs

Tabs are now an actual tab in Unified Client Interface, the way they used to be in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 version.

The opportunity form with 4 tabs as shown below in Web Interface

will show up as actual tabs in the Unified Client interface.

Filter Pane in Activity Timeline

The Filter Pane in Activity Timeline section provides users with multiple options to filter the result. Users can now filter by Posts or Activities, which can then be further filtered “By date”.

Activities can be further filtered based on Activity Type along with the date.

Interactive Dashboard

Interactive Dashboard in Unified Client interface have the options to apply Visual Filters and Global Filters.

Visual filter shows the record in the chart-based interface, from wherein user, can select the section of the chart to further filter the records.

The below image shows the Cases being Filtered by Phone type as well as Priority.

The interactive dashboard also allows the option of filtering the record based on Timeline as shown below.

The global filter gives users an option to further filter down the dashboard based on the values of the fields for that entity.

Record Navigation Panel

Record navigation panel shows the list of records from the grid from which the user has opened the record.

Now the user, instead of going back to the grid and then selecting the record to be opened or using an arrow button on the form inside Web Client, can now select or navigate to the other record from the Record Navigation Panel easily.

Unified Client Interface brings along with Microsoft Dynamics 365 new features that make the application more intuitive, user-friendly and more effective which will help the organization in their pursuit of user adaption.
