PayPal Guest Credit Card payments still not working
Winthrop Development Consultants uses PayPal’s Invoicing facility to send invoices for product subscriptions and consulting hours. These invoices can be paid using a credit card (via PayPal), a PayPal account or via Bank Transfer/ACH.
This system has been working well since Winthrop Development Consultants took over distribution of its products in July 2018.
Paying with a credit card without logging into PayPal is called a Guest Credit Card payment and PayPal is just providing Merchant Services in the same way a bank can do.
Since about 28th September 2020, something broke with PayPal Guest Credit Card payments and customers receive the error message below:
We’re sorry: Things don’t appear to be working at the moment.
PayPal are aware of the issue and it is affecting multiple merchant customers. It is now three weeks and it is not yet fixed. My latest (of many) calls to PayPal support confirmed that they think they are 24-48 hours away from a resolution. However, I have heard that before.
You can still pay using a PayPal Account. If you don’t have one, you can create one, link your chosen credit card to it and complete the payment.
Alternatively, you can pay using Bank Transfer/ACH. For partners, our bank details are on the Partner Portal, for customers, please email support at winthropdc dot com and we can send you the details. Paying via ACH takes a little longer to reach us, but does avoid paying all the PayPal fees.
Note: We are unable to receive payment via cheque/check.
If you are concerned that your subscriptions will expire, please note that there is a 30 day grace period after expiry before the subscription stops.
Please be patient and hopefully this will be fixed soon.
David
