Announcing new capabilities and updated features in the Dynamics 365 for Financials May release
|
(Build version: 16552) We are pleased to share the recent updates to Dynamics 365 for Financials. For a complete list of what’s new and what’s coming you can visit the Dynamics 365 Roadmap. Dynamics 365 for Financials is available as public preview in the UKWe’re happy to announce the public preview of Dynamics 365 for Financials in the United Kingdom, the first European market with a localized version of Dynamics 365 for Financials available for users. Bill of MaterialThe new Bill of Materials (BOM) capabilities in Dynamics 365 for Financials enables users to define component structures of items, including roll up of cost and prices to parent items. In addition, on sales and purchase invoices you can replace the parent item with separate lines for each of its components. For example, you can now sell the parent item as a kit consisting of its components and adjust costs and prices of individual components as required to customize individual orders. Multi-layered component structures, in which parent items are composed of other parent items, are now easy to visualize in tree structures. For more information, see How to: Work with Bills of Material. Posting directly to general ledger accounts from documentsAdd additional fees or services to your sales or purchase documents directly from the document lines. You can immediately select the correct general ledger account to post the revenue. Task ManagementWith Task Management you now have more control of who's doing what in your campaigns. By assigning sales persons to the tasks involved in the campaign, you can track involvement in the activities and sales cycle stages. Synchronization of Opportunities from Dynamics 365 for SalesYou can now synchronize opportunities between Dynamics 365 Sales, Enterprise edition and Dynamics 365 for Financials. We’ve made it easier to turn an opportunity into a customer that you can invoice directly from Dynamics 365 for Financials. REST APIThe REST API helps developers and service providers easily integrate with Dynamics 365 for Financials. Using this API, developers and service providers can create powerful extensions, customize user interface elements, or add business logic. With this update the API includes company information, customer and vendor lists, sales orders and invoices, and account information available to developers and service providers. VAT Registration Number Validation (UK Only)The launch of Dynamics 365 for Financials in the UK comes with functionality that lets you validate VAT registration numbers of customers, vendors, and other contacts. This validation also lets you retrieve their registered address and contact name(s) automatically.
New Dynamics 365 for Financials videosWe’re always looking for ways to help people get going with Financials. In this update we’ve added more “how to” videos that explain things people often do to start with Financials, such as set up sales tax calculations and approval workflows. The new videos also describe advanced concepts like sharing data between CRM and Financials, and doing year-end closing. To make them easy to find, we’ve also added a Product Videos activity on the Business Manager Role Center, which opens a full list of our videos, organized by context. |

Hi there can someone tell me the best way to undo an accidental manual payment which has been partially applied. What is the best way to reverse it as I know u cannot void it. It is open but partially applied which is why I have a problem.

Sorry for the late reply @Manish, as you may have seen we have just rebranded Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Financials to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations , Business Edition (July 1st) . In addition we'll soon add new capabilities around Manufacturing , Service Management and Warehouse management , announced at the same time as the name change.

Its beyond me, why has Microsoft decided to call it Dynamics for Financials. I have had a hard time explaining to prospects its not just a financial management system. It has stock management and manufacturing abilities as well.

I can't see any information on screen or anywhere today, with my login, as to what the REST API feature is. I don't think the OData really counts as as RESTFUL API in true meaning...

Hi, what does the "REST API" feature mean? Is that just the OData web services that are currently in D365 Financials?
