Auto-numbering in Dynamics CRM

When you create a case, Dynamics CRM will automatically create its ID. That’s the auto-numbering feature. So, you don’t have to write any custom plugins anymore.

You can configure the prefix of the ID as well as the Suffix length. To perform this action, Navigate to Advanced Settings (In UCI) > Administration > Auto – Numbering

A window will open as shown below & you could configure as per need. Click OK, once done.

Note –

  1. This setting is on the organization level. Any changes done will affect your Sandbox/Production environment.
  2. This can’t be imported in a solution & exported to a different environment. This setting needs to be configured in every environment if modified.
