The importance of project structure in a Mobility Solution for Field Service

Community Member Profile Picture Community Member

The Cardiac Services Group, founded in Belfast in 1969 are at the forefront of supplying and supporting diagnostic and measurement equipment in Ireland and the UK. Cardiac Services became part of the SISK GROUP in August 2006 and operate under the umbrella structure, SISK Healthcare.

Sysco revisited the project with the team at Cardiac Services as part of a wider case study series on the project implementation and ongoing benefits to Cardiac Services, their customers and their field service engineers from using the mobility solution daily.

Richard Connell, Head of Projects for SISK Healthcare discusses his role as Project Manager in projects of strategic importance for the SISK Healthcare business and the delivery of the Sysco Mobile Solution in partnership with Sysco Software Solutions.

“The project structure was critical for the service mobile solution. We had a very strong projects team mobilised. Sysco, Belfast and Dublin. SISK IT and Representatives from the Cardiac Business.”

“Everyone knew what their role was going to be within the project which made it very easy and Sysco worked very well with us, within that governance structure. Which would have involved, very standard methodology; action logs, issue logs, steering group updates and effectively routine meetings with the project team.”

“Having the project in place from the get go basically made the project easier to deliver for everybody. Sysco had a very strong hand in guiding us on the importance of investing early to develop the right functional specification for the service mobile”

“We developed very strong documentation around the functional spec that effectively Sysco could go off and build for us and we had a lot of confidence in their ability to do so.”

Declan Moloney has worked closely with Sysco Software staff on the ongoing development of the Mobility Solution and works for the Projects Team at SISK Healthcare.

“Sysco have been invaluable to this project from day one.”

“In every aspect of this project Sysco have always operated the same. We would suggest something, they would come back to us with improved alternatives and that’s what we are looking for from a partner.”

“Our engineers have a lot of confidence in the system so if they have an issue it’s not that they have to leave a hospital and come back the next day. We can pretty much fix it whilst they are there.”

Richard Ellis, Director of Service and Education at Cardiac Services followed “We had our project team and Sysco had their project team and the two teams worked really well together. We had one company doing the integration on both sides and that I think is one of the keys to it being such a smooth rollout.”
