Getting Started with Dynamics 365 Business Central Development Sandbox Environment

Community Member Profile Picture Community Member

If you depend on Microsoft Dynamics products to generate revenue and want to start developing for Dynamics 365 Business Central, it is important to understand the different options that are available. Microsoft resellers and ISV can either choose to run a sandbox environment deployed as a Dynamics 365 Business Central service, or a container-based image either hosted as an Azure VM or locally. AL development tools are provided for both options. The container-based sandbox also provides access to the C/SIDE development tools.

Capabilities available in the development sandbox environments for Dynamics 365 Business Central include deployment, production data, porduction services, cost, development, tools and debugging. Get an overview of your options.

The AL developer environment enables Dynamics Vendors to get started writing extensions for Dynamics 365 Business Central, but you will need a Dynamics 365 Business Central tenant, Visual Studio Code, and the AL Language extension. Learn more
