Professional Services ERP goes cloud

Community Member Profile Picture Community Member

professional services ERPAbout 75 percent of accountants say they could deliver better service to their clients if they had improved access to real-time data, according to survey results published at CloudTweaks.com.  The survey also revealed that about 55 percent of accountants plan to offer cloud-based services to their clients.

For many small and midsize businesses the cloud has become the pro forma deployment model for business management software.  Why should professional services ERP software be any different?  For many companies, the move to the cloud has recently been shown to reduce IT spending by as much as 15 percent according to an article at CloudTImes.org.

“With these gains, companies using the cloud are able to devote a higher percentage of their IT spending on new projects, and less to support. These savings in costs associated with strategic benefits such as agility, speed, scalability and argue in favor of organizations moving aggressively to the cloud,” said CloudTimes.

Professional services ERP can be scaled up and down more easily in the cloud to grow with the company or adjust to seasonal changes.  Not to mention there are now more solutions like project management in the cloud that pack enterprise-level power that even small firms will find accessible and easy to use.

For smaller firms a cloud deployment can mean the difference between having the solution or not.  At this point the cloud has demonstrated real-world efficiency gains and cost saving, leading to rapid adoption and popularity.  Software that would have been beyond the reach of SMBs a few years ago is being designed specifically for the cloud, making them more affordable and accessible than ever before.  And the trend will only continues.

“The client application design still stand room for improvement. The concepts of application architecture, as was referenced at the WSTA Cloud Technologies seminar in 2011, will inevitably include parallel computing, state machines, mutexes and highly accessible programming processes,” said an article at SoftwareThinktank.com.
