This time of year, we get a lot of questions about 1099 forms, so we put together a primer on 1099 information. First, let’s start with the paths:
- Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Routines | Purchasing | Print 1099s
- Use the Print button to print the actual 1099s
- Use the printer icon at the upper right to print an edit list of 1099s
- 1099s can be printed at any point, before or after closing your year
- Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Utilities | Purchasing | Update 1099 Information
- Use to move 1099 amounts for a vendor from one 1099 type to another
- Update a vendor’s 1099 type
- Inquiry | Purchasing | Vendor 1099 Details
- View 1099 information for a vendor by type
- Cards | Purchasing | 1099 Details
- Edit 1099 information for a vendor by type
To edit 1099 amounts, you must select a specific tax type and display the month. The amounts are edited by period, not by yearly total.
You can then modify the amount in the far right column. Before you make adjustments, you definitely should use the printer icon in the upper right hand corner to print a record of the 1099 amounts. Print the report again after your changes.
One final note: The 1099 thresholds—to determine if a 1099 prints or not—are stored in Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | Setup | Purchasing | Payables | 1099 Setup.
