Email Signature – An error has occurred. Please return home page and try again.
Until the release of 2016 Update 1 there was no easy way of managing users’ signatures. Instead we’d make use of email templates, which was less than ideal. Thankfully Microsoft rectified this and introduced a new email signature feature in the aforementioned release. There is a an excellent guide by The CRM Chap on how to set them up here.
One of my colleagues today followed this guide and was slightly perplexed as to why, firstly the signature did not appear by default, and secondly when she tried to enter the email signature manually she received the following error, “An error has occurred. Please return to the home page and try again.”.
It transpires that you will receive this error if you have legacy form rendering enabled in your System Settings (as shown below). In order to utilise this feature you must be using the new “turbo forms”.
Alas, for us we’re still awaiting a fix from Microsoft for the turbo form script error on the quote product form – caused by refreshing the form or opening the quote product using Xrm.Utility.openEntityForm() in a new window as we do from a custom quote product grid – so we now need to decide whether to ignore the script error or use email signatures. Decisions, decisions…
