Go paperless and beyond!

Motivators to reduce or eliminate paper are everywhere. More and more consumer product packaging is made out of recycled materials, more people are aware of the impact humans have on the environment and the multitude of tips and tricks to go paperless for good at home and in the office are readily available.

So you’ve decided to commit to a paperless workplace by implementing a document management solution with your company’s ERP system. You’re going beyond just the accounts payable department and driving paperless goals throughout your entire enterprise. What does this mean for you and your organization?

The average worker uses 10,000 sheets of copy paper each year. And, while you may not even think about it when you grab a piece of paper to make a note on, 10,000 sheets of paper multiplied by all of the employees in your company definitely adds up.  This is just one extra cost to consider. Going fully paperless will help you cut costs and focus that budget previously allocated toward office supplies toward something more pertinent.

And, while we all love saving trees, we also need to look at efficiency. Those filing cabinets, manila folders, binders and file boxes aren’t doing you any favors in terms of effectiveness. Important documents get lost in the literal shuffle and, if they’re mis-filed, they become nearly impossible to find again in the future if you need to reference them. Need an invoice approved quickly? Don’t count on it! When you’re passing paper throughout the office, the chances of getting it back with enough time to claim an early-payment discount is slim.

The lesson here? Get rid of that paper! Cutting costs and increasing efficiency is just the beginning of what can happen when you go beyond paperless and embrace it throughout your organization.
