Developer alert: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Custom Code Validation Tool
The upcoming update for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, Update Rollup 9 aka “CRM Anywhere”, brings multi-browser support to CRM Online. Several JavaScript functions only available in Internet Explorer were deprecated for functions supported in multiple browsers. On June 21, 2012, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Custom Code Validation Tool was released on the Microsoft CRM Blog. The primary function of the tool is to aid in identifying potential issues in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online customizations or configurations.
The Custom Code Validation Tool (pictured below) is available for both Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online and on-premise Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 deployments. When the Tool checks JavaScript, potential issues are highlighted in either red or blue. JavaScript highlighted in red relies on functions that have been deprecated in CRM Online and needs to be updated to current standards. JavaScript highlighted in blue relies on undocumented functions that might need to be updated to current standards. Test this code at your discretion.
The Custom Code Validation Tool is downloaded in a .zip file and then imported into Microsoft Dynamics CRM or CRM Online as a Solution.
