Quick Tip: Disable Duplicate Detection during data import
Imagine this scenario: Your boss has tasked you with migrating some data into Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. Data migration is usually easy with CRM Online, but the database you are about to import was poorly maintained and contains many duplicated records. When you import the data, automatic Duplication Detection processes may cause CRM Online to perform slowly.
Here’s a quick tip: You can specifically disable Duplication Detection during data imports, allowing you to run Duplicate Detection Jobs manually later. Follow along below and we’ll guide you through it.
Please note that the steps described in this article disable Duplication Detection during data import for all users of CRM Online. We only recommend using this setting if you are the only person who imports data. Otherwise, we recommend that individual users use the Allow Duplicates option in the Import Data Wizard for each import they perform.
You will need to have a Security Role of System Administrator or equivalent privileges in CRM Online to modify Duplication Detection settings.
In CRM Online (see below), navigate to Settings > System > Data Management, and click Duplicate Detection Settings.
The Duplicate Detection Settings dialog opens (see below). The settings you choose here affect all users. Uncheck During data import and click OK to close the window and save your settings.
If, in the future, you want to enable Duplication Detecting during data imports again, simply reopen the Duplication Detection Settings dialog and check the box again.
