Expanded Cost Center Tracking with Dynamics GP 2010

If your company needs a job cost or project cost tracking and reporting system that is inexpensive and easy to set up and use then Dynamics GP 2010 has a good solution for you.  The new release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 includes the final component of its built-in cost center reporting feature that allows it to be a good solution for cost center tracking.  The addition of Analytical Accounting for Payroll now completes the suite of subsidiary ledgers that allow coding of transaction distributions to report by cost center without the need for a separate GL account code segment.  The previous releases of GP had this functionality for the Sales, Purchasing and Inventory subsidiary ledgers, but lacked the Payroll piece.  Now, with this new release, it is included which has far reaching implications:

  1. The need for a separate job cost or project accounting module can now be eliminated in some cases and for certain tracking needs because Analytical Accounting is included as a core module in the entry level of Dynamics GP.
  2. With the addition of Analytical Accounting for Payroll, Dynamics GP can now service a wider variety of industries that need to include payroll costs in their cost center analysis.  This solution benefits implementations needing multiple companies and multiple cost center values especially when they need to be set up and functional quickly.  The solution is streamlined, concise and easier to implement than those of third party ISVs.
  3. Analysis is provided using the FRx Report Writer which allows for easy report design cloning and quick cost center report setup resulting in timely and accurate reporting, an especially important requirement for industries using cost centers.

Industries that can use this feature include construction, manufacturing, healthcare, government, non-profit, professional services and financial services among others.  bSolutions, LLC has helped companies in several industries use the Dynamics GP Analytical Accounting feature to track costs by cost center.
