PowerBI and BYOD with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

Brief steps how to connect your own data warehouse/BYODW from PowerBI desktop to author report/dashboard with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations One version

1) Download latest PowerBI desktop

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331

2) In PowerBI Desktop, sign in and create a new file and Use option "Get Data" to connect to BYODW SQL

3) Provide BYODW Azure SQL server name and database name and ensure connectivity mode is "DirectQuery" or "import"

4) If getting connectivity error, then possibly your IP is not allowed to access BYDOW SQL

5) Select tables from the navigator and click load.

6) Access credentials can be provided in data source settings under "edit permissions"

7) Specify access details by clicking on "edit" button

8) Ensure connection access is selected as "Database"

9) It’s a single drill down report and the drill up or drill down could be done using below icons:
