Sending reports via email in a batch

Lachlan Profile Picture Lachlan Microsoft Employee

This is a quick walk through sending a report via email in a batch process. The usage of the batch is important if the users doesn’t want to wait for the report to run. As well if you don’t check the batch option then the AX client will try to talk to Outlook on your desktop which is ok if you have both the AX client and Outlook installed on your desktop. But if you are using the AX client deployed on a terminal server via a published application for example and Outlook is install locally the AX client will expect Outlook to be deployed on the server where it is running. The sending of the email in this case is sent via SMTP from the AOS running the batch to your SMTP relay server.

Cheers

Lachlan
