How to Set Up Password Change Reminders in Dynamics GP
Many security experts agree that regular password changes are the key to keeping your Microsoft Dynamics GP secure. However, it can be hard to remember when you changed yours last and when you are due again. That is why Dynamics GP allows you to set automatic reminders when it's time for a change.
How to Set Up Password Change Reminders
Visit the Dynamics GP Home Page. On this page, you'll see a "To Do" section. If the "To Do" section is not visible, you can activate it by clicking "Customize This Page" and then checking the box that makes "To Do" visible.
Then, click "New Task" in your "To Do" section. Choose the "New Task" button.
In this task window, make an entry for a reminder. You can then enter the due date. Click the Recurrence button, which will open a new window. In this window, you'll be able to set the recurrence patter and the range of recurrence. By setting the range, you'll choose how long a task should remain active.
It is also possible to link the new task to a Dynamics GP window. For a password change reminder, you would set the link to the user preferences window.
Your new task will now appear in the Task List in Dynamics GP. Its position will be based on your initial due date and the recurrence pattern you've selected. Each time the occurrence shows up in your tasks, you can click it and open the task window. Then, click "Name" in the "Link to" section to open the User Preferences and update your password.
Once the task is completed, you can update the task's status to "Completed" and click save. The task is then removed from your To Do section on your home page. It will appear again when it's time for the next password change.
By making it easy to remember password change schedules, you can be sure that you are keeping up with this important security task.
