Question about 401k deductions and limits.  we have users whos limits are reached in early December.  The last pay period for 2017 ends on 12/31/2017 but the pay date is 1/5/2017.  The 401K deductions do not begin for that pay date!  They will begin for the next one of 1/19/2018.  AX must consider the deductions up to 12/31.  How is this handled?

We have also identified an issue with USA-OH-Cuyahoga-Cleveland-City not being updated from 2016.  In 2016, the rate was 2.0% and in 2017 it should have increased to 2.5%.  I have a letter from the Division of Taxation-State of Ohio dated November, 2016 confirming this.  I can forward if needed.  Is this something that can get included in the updated release scheduled for 1/13/17???

    Thanks!

Thanks for the additional information Jacqueline!  I am wondering if anyone that has processed a 2017 payroll has seen any issues with 401K not calculating.  What we are seeing is that if the Worker maxed out on their Deduction last year, that AX isn't "restarting" the 401k for 2017.  The frustrating part is that it is working for some but not all.  Wondering if this is related to the Tax Update for some reason?

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Sharon

FYI - Just got an update from Darin Kramer (Microsoft Payroll PM) via an issue found by one of our customers -  this is what Darin said ...the federal rates are still last years in the latest update. We are getting another release from Symmetry next Friday (1/13th) and we will turn it around and release another update.

So, look for another download after 1/13th.

Sharon, I did not get any errors after the install. You might search the log for the word error and let us know what it is.

Hi Sharon,  :\ProgramData\ is a hidden folder, you can change the folder options to "show hidden files" in file explorer, or just paste the file path into your file explorer window, it should bring you to that file.

    Hi Tracy:

I really appreciate you keeping me in the loop on this issue.  I was able to download the package as well and run through the wizard.  I did get a strange error at the end of the wizard running:  (I can't seem to paste a screen shot)....An unexpected error occurred during Setup.   See the log file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Dynamics AX\Dynamics AX Setup Logs\2016-12-28 13-49-42\DynamicsSetupLog.txt for details.  This file/path doesn't exist for me to review.  The Setup screen shows all components with a status of Installed and the Setup states it completed successfully.  I was then able to proceed to AX2012R3 and run through the update.  My  Tax data version did change to 2017-R1 so I'm assuming it applied correctly even though there was the above error.  Did you by chance experience something similar???

    Let me know.

    Thanks!

    Sharon

    Microsoft just messaged me,

"Sorry for the late response. I checked with PM and I got an update that this issue has been fixed.

I also ran the new hotfix package in my lab box, it is showing for R3 and I am able to install it as well.

Can you please download the Payroll fix again from the link below for R3 and let me know if it worked for you.

    I'm downloading it now.
