Cloud Based MRP: What are its Unique Features?

Sabre Limited has been providing manufacturing companies with the tools they need to be successful for over 25 years. As experts in Business Central, our focus is on features that will help you grow and succeed.

Most of Microsoft Dynamics NAV's manufacturing customers are expected to switch to Business Central by the end of 2022.

The year-over-year growth of Business Central was already industry-leading before the pandemic. In the past two years, however, we have seen an even greater increase in demand for the product. Businesses of all sizes are turning to cloud-based MRP solutions to help them manage their manufacturing and distribution operations.

Dynamics 365 Business Central provides a comprehensive set of tools for manufacturing businesses. They can manage their production processes, supply chains, and customer relationships. With its cloud-based platform, Business Central can provide businesses with the flexibility and scalability they need to adapt.

A few weeks ago, Sabre Limited updated their Comprehensive Guide to Dynamics 365 MRP to reflect the most recent wave of updates released between October 2021 and April 2022.

Also, a few weeks ago, Sabre Limited President and Founder, Robert Jolliffe, presented at the Solve My ERP Problems conference, a Dynamics 365 community pop-up event. In his presentation, Robert covered the basics of manufacturing management utilizing MRP/MPS and Production Forecasts in Business Central ERP, when these modules are appropriate and how to make them function. He also demonstrated real examples of Planning Worksheets, how Planning Parameters impact material planning, and the limitations of different settings and features of MRP and MPS.

Recently, one of the most discussed topics at conferences and within the ERP and Dynamics 365 software communities alike is the transition to cloud-based solutions. Someone presented on the topic at the Solve My ERP Problems conference.

Get Started Fast and Cheap

Microsoft's Business Central is one of the first cloud-based ERP systems that fully supports manufacturing processes and is truly month-to-month subscription based, with Microsoft dynamics cloud as its infrastructure. This move represents the company's commitment to the cloud.

One of the benefits of cloud based MRP is that it can help businesses save money. cloud based MRP solutions are typically much less expensive than on-premise MRP solutions. In addition, cloud based MRP solutions often offer a pay-as-you-go pricing model, which can help businesses save even more money.

If you are a smaller manufacturing company needing MRP Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an easy way to get started. With just a credit card you can open a single user account and start using it today for just $128 CAD month to month.

Of course, that doesn't include training, but you do get the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central software without the hassle or expense of on-premises servers.

The Advantages of Cloud-Based Manufacturing MRP software

The cloud has been a game changer for businesses of all sizes. Prior to the pandemic, many companies were reluctant to move to cloud-based material requirement planning (MRP) software due to concerns about security and data loss. However, the benefits of cloud-based MRP became apparent very quickly when the pandemic hit and businesses were forced to close their doors.

Cloud based MRP software provides a number of benefits for businesses. Perhaps most importantly, it offers greater flexibility and scalability than traditional on-premise MRP solutions. Cloud based MRP is delivered via the internet, so businesses can access it from any location and at any time. Cloud based MRP also eliminates the need for businesses to invest in hardware, software, and other infrastructure, which can save a significant amount of money. In addition, cloud based MRP solutions are typically much easier to implement and use than on-premise solutions, making them ideal for businesses that do not have the resources or expertise to manage complex MRP systems.

Other useful features that come with being cloud based include:

  • Microsoft Office Integration, which allows for extensive document creation and management.
  •  Full PC, Tablet and Phone integration out of the box to view and input data.
  • Out of the box manufacturing features are full-featured and match what most mid-market manufacturing companies want.
  • Microsoft has always encouraged add-ons for its product lines, and there are many exceptional add-ons for Business Central.
  • AppSource is a market for publishes to create and market business add-ons to Microsoft products.

It's more important than ever for manufacturers to have an MRP software solution to connect and streamline all business processes. Cloud based MRP software gives manufacturing businesses the ability to sell, purchase missing parts, and manufacture all in one place. This not only saves time and money, but it makes it easier to track progress and manage customer relationships.

Understanding the Microsoft Dynamics Cloud

Microsoft rebranded their Dynamics NAV product, the most cloud-ready of the three remaining products, as Dynamics 365 Business Central in April of 2018.

Business Central is the flagship product of the Microsoft Dynamics Cloud

There are a number of different cloud based MRP solutions available on the market today. However, these solutions are not all created equal. When choosing a cloud based MRP solution for your business, it is important to consider your specific needs and requirements. Not all cloud based MRP solutions will be a good fit for every business.

Business Central is Microsoft's flagship product for small and medium-sized businesses. It has been years since we've seen such an innovative product in the ERP market. There are now many revolutionary features available that will change how organizations do business.

Business Central has the advantage of the enormous legacy of Dynamics NAV experience and expertise.

Overall, cloud based MRP solutions offer a number of benefits for businesses. Cloud based MRP is flexible, scalable, and cost-effective MRP solution and may be the right option for your business.
