ReportReport

Hi All,

I did a simple trial balance report in financial reporting and our financial year is 1/7/25..30/6/26 and when I select view by Year by default the date filter is going as calendar year and when I print the report print into one page.  But after changing date filter into 1/7/25..30/6/26 and print the report with option selected Skip Zero Balance Lines in Run Financial Report its print one blank page first and 2nd page with values and 3rd page blank.  If I dont select skip zero balance lines it will print all GL with zero and total 3 pages.  I did exact report on other companies and its worked fine and printed only one page but only in one company I am facing this issue.  Any of you faced this issue and how did you fix the same.

Thanks

    Hi

The blank pages you’re seeing are usually caused by row definitions or formatting issues in Financial Reporter, not the skip zero lines option itself. In one company, your row/column setup or reporting unit restriction is likely introducing non printing rows or page breaks. Reviewing the row definition for hidden/non-printing (NP) rows, column restrictions, or dimension filters should fix it

No Sathish I dont have any hidden NP rows.  I mistakenly posted this in Dynamics 365 instead of Business Central.  Can any BC MVP help me with this.

    Hello,

Can you check if you are running from standard report layout?
It will be helpful if you can provide the row definitions.

    Hi Yong,

My report layout is Landscape and its coming blank first page and values 2nd page and 3rd page blank if I changed to Portrait its comes value in first page but its broken into 2 pages since it has few columns.  My row definition as follows i have pasted the top 2 rows and last 2 rows of row definition

    Hello,

The issue occurs because when Skip Zero Balance Lines is selected, the report removes rows but the layout still reserves space for headers or blank sections, causing extra pages.

This is usually company-specific and linked to row definitions, page setup, or accounting period configuration.

To fix it, check for blank rows in the Row Definition, verify page setup for unused headers/footers, ensure the financial year matches accounting periods, and test with a fresh layout.

If other companies work fine, the problem is likely in this company’s row or layout setup.

    Thanks Jainam,

Sorry but how to go to page setup in Row Definition.  Also my our financial year is from 1/7/25 to 30/6/26 when I run the report for year and the year by default goes to calendar year then the report comes in 1 page but when i change date filter into 1/7/25 to 30/6/26 then first page become blank .  And the row and column layout is exact same in other company and this company.

    Hello,

    Please find the attached Screenshot.
Go to Financial Reports -> Edit Definitions -> Edit Row Definitions.

    Hello,

Your blank pages come from one thing:
In that company, your Row Definition has 1–2 rows marked Show = Yes (or an underline/empty row) that still print even when the numbers are zero. When you enable Skip Zero Balance Lines, those structure rows remain → BC prints blank first/last pages.

Open the Row Definition → set empty/underline rows to Show = No or Show = If any column not zero.
    That removes the blank pages.

    Regards,
    Oussama Sabbouh

Hi Jainam, Yes I know how to go to row definition but you mentioned page setup which I dont think any page setup under row definition.

Hi Oussama I changed the row definition Show = If any column not zero and still same result.

    Hi

Your custom RDLC landscape layout is wider than the page (Body width + left/right margins > page width). SSRS then inserts blank pages → blank 1st & 3rd pages. Fix by reducing Body (and tablix) width so it fits within page width minus margins and ensure no page breaks on groups.

    Checks:
    1. In Report Layout Selection, switch this company to Microsoft (RDLC) — do blanks disappear?

    2. What paper size/margins and Body Width are set in your custom layout?

    3. Any Page break before/after on tablix groups or header rows?
