    Hi,

Can you please make sure that Budget name field is visible in excel and is filled in? Also if you can add screenshot it will be helpful.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

    Hello,

That error appears because you’re trying to publish Item Budget Entries without filtering on a specific Budget Name, and Budget Name is a mandatory key field. To use Edit in Excel properly, first open Item Budgets, select the correct Budget Name, choose Edit Budget, ensure the Budget Name filter is applied, and then click Edit in Excel from that filtered view. If you launch Edit in Excel from the full Item Budget Entries list without the Budget Name context, publishing will fail because BC doesn’t know which budget the new rows belong to.

    Hi,

I just checked your scenario and I think Edit in excel you will not be able to use. This is because Budget name field is non editable and it is mandatory so it will give error while using edit in excel.

However you can use Copy paste method to perform your data upload. Follow below steps.

1 - Open the Item Budget entries page where you can do the data entry. For this, in the Sales Budget Edit screen, you can click on 3 dots on any cell.

2 - Now on Item Budget entries page click on Edit List. Then click on arrow against first row. Select Ctrl + C (Copy).

3 - Paste into a blank excel. You can see the exact number of columns will be pasted in excel with blank data. Now fill in the data in this excel as per your need.

4 - Fill up the excel sheet with the data. Do not enter entry no. as it will be auto populated. Enter all the mandatory fields or else it will give error.
Now select your entire data, without table caption. Do not include entry no. as it will be auto populated.

5 - Now go to Business Central. Again click on the arrow against the first record. Press Ctrl + V (Paste). You will see that data will be uploaded if all the values are correct.

5 - Now check the data in the matrix view on Sales budget page.

    I hope this helps.

✅ Tick the checkbox below to mark the answer as verified, if it helped resolve your question.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.
