Hello,
I want to create a workflow so that a team is notified when an item is created and the same team is notified when the items modified – can that be down on the same workflow template?

Yes, it is possible to have a single workflow template configured in Business Central to notify a team when an item is created and when it is modified. In the workflow, you will add actions with notifications associated with the appropriate events and use the same user group or team to receive those notifications. This will ensure that the team is notified about both the creation and modification events in the same workflow.
