Production Order Error: "Inventory dimension Location must be specified."

Hi All,

I am receiving this error trying to update and report as finish this particular Production order.

Usually when I receive this error is because the location information is missing; but in this case is setted correctly as you can see

and also in the BOM details everything seems setted properly

Any suggestion on how to fix this problem?

Hello Andrea,

This error usually appears when the system cannot find a finished goods location.

Could you check the following settings?

Default production finished goods location (warehouse)

Output location (resource group)

Hi @Andrea Serramondi,

I tested a similar scenario in the Demo environment, and the system is correctly picking the location from the Production order inventory dimensions at the time of Report as Finished. I tried changing the location multiple times on the same production order, and in each time RAF picked the location defined on the production order.

I would recommend clearing the cache and then updating the production order dimensions as follows:
1-First remove the location, save the record
2-Then reselect the location, save again, and
3-Try posting RAF.

In my testing, the item and warehouse used were not WMS-enabled. I am not sure about your setup. However, if the item and warehouse are not WMS-enabled, RAF should pick the location from the production order inventory dimensions.

I also agree with the other comments that if WMS is used, a default receipt Pick location must be defined.

Hi,
I need a couple of clarifications:

When you perform Report as Finished and the dialog form opens, did you verify whether the location is being correctly defaulted? If a location is specified on the order, it should automatically populate in the RAF form. If it is defaulted and you still receive this error, that would be unexpected. However, if it is not defaulting, then this likely points to a setup-related issue (as already mentioned in a few comments above).

Do you have any customization related to inventory dimensions defaulting or assignment? That could also be impacting this behavior.

Hi,

Please check if the location field is updated when Report as finished form is opened. The field needs to be added by clicking inventory > display dimensions.
