Hi guys, I am having a hard time understanding the whole process of assigning custom permission sets and roles/role centers to users. Can someone explain how that whole process goes from creating the permission set to assigning in Users with a proper role center, and maybe something else that I might be missing? Thank you in advance.

I think it is best to first clarify what each one does:

Role Center: This is the main landing page in Business Central. It only determines what a user sees when they open BC.

Role: This is a profile that mainly controls page layouts and personalization. It determines how pages look for the user. Each role is linked to a Role Center, so different roles can have different Role Centers.

You can view the available roles on the Profiles (Roles) page and see which Role Center each one uses. You assign a role to each user on the User Settings page.

Permissions: These determine what functionality and data a user can access. You can use the standard permission sets or create custom ones. You can view permission sets on the Permission Sets page and assign them to users on the Users page.

    Hello,

Permissions = what the user can do
Role Center = what the user sees

    Process:

    1. Create permission set (Search → Permission Sets → New or Record Permissions).

    2. Assign it to the user (Users → User Card → add permission set).

    3. Assign a Role Center (User Settings → set Role).

    That’s basically the whole flow.
