Can we use the Standard Global BC solution in the Asia Pacific Region?

Can we use the Standard Global BC solution in the Asia Pacific Region countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines? If yes, then how can we manage their SST, GST, GRT and Withholding Tax requirements?

Hello,

Yes, the standard global (W1) version of Business Central can be used in Asia Pacific countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, but it does not include local tax features by default.

To meet requirements for SST, GST, GRT, and Withholding Tax, you need to install country-specific localization apps from Microsoft AppSource, which add tax structures, compliance reporting, and statutory features.

After installing, configure tax setups within Business Central to ensure accurate calculations and reporting.

Thank you, Jainam, for answering my question and suggestions. I am keen to learn more about why we can't use standard BC VAT Setup and configurations for SST, GST. I understand that we do need a separate app for GRT and Withholding tax.

Another question is, can we configure UK, IR, UAE and Asia Pacific companies in one BC environment, or is there any chance that the localisation app can conflict with standard BC functions which are already in use in other countries and regions?

Hello,

Yes, you can use the global Business Central version in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Malaysia: SST/GST supported natively.

Singapore: GST-05 return supported.

Thailand: Withholding Tax supported.

Philippines: Use partner add-ons for VAT/WHT.

Compliance is managed through Microsoft localizations or AppSource partner extensions.

Hi MS has localizations for the following countries, for each of them it maintains specific functionalities for those environments, then there is a W1 which is the generic one so to speak and on which the localizations are created.

Not if you want country specific functionality. The UK localization uses the UK base app as opposed to the W1 base app used by the other countries/regions in your list. You can find the list here Country/Regional Availability and Supported Languages - Business Central | Microsoft Learn
