Opportunity Management - Chances of Success Values Update Logic

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone uses Chances of Success in Opportunity Management and if it is working correctly. You can reproduce the issue as follows:

  1. Create a new Opportunity and ensure the Sales Cycle Code is one where the Probability Calculation is set as "Chances of Success %"
  2. Activate First Stage
  3. Click on Update to enter an amount
    1. You will notice that the Update Opportunity Card Defaults to the Next Stage and is also Updating the "Chances of Success (%)" to the next stage
    2. However, user want to simply add an amount so changes the Action Type to "Update", but it does not recalculate the "Chances of Success (%)" again
The problem:
  • Since Update does not recalculate the "Chances of Success (%)", users are making mistakes with the initial Chances of Success.

Question:
  • How do we avoid users entering incorrect Chances of Success when all they want to do is enter an amount correctly and in-case they make a mistake, chose the correct stage and its respective Chances of Success?
I have the same question (0)

Hi, According to Microsoft's description, Update can change information (such as to modify your evaluation of their chances of success and estimated values) without moving to another stage.
    More details:
If this is a standard issue, it is recommended to submit it to Microsoft.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

This is standard Opportunity behavior in Business Central: when you use Update Amount, the system assumes stage progression and automatically moves to the next stage with its Chance of Success, but if the user switches the Action Type back to Update, BC does not recalculate the Chance of Success because recalculation only happens on stage changes; there’s no standard fix, so avoiding bad data requires either user training, a small customization to force recalculation on Update, or a process change where users always pick the correct stage before updating the amount.

    Hi,

You are correct. I checked in the latest version and found the same problem.

I do not think that Microsoft will categorize it as bug but you can provide Idea on BCIdeas page or can raise a support request.

Also to solve this from your size you can do a small customization on Onvalidate of the page field through page extension to update the value of Chances of Success field on the record. You can use Rec."Chance of Success %" to update the value.

The other thing is guiding to the user which I guess you already tried but users are making mistakes.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.
